September brings a mix of stories from across SATA CommHealth — from the work happening behind the scenes to the people and initiatives making a difference in our communities.

First up, we look at something we often take for granted: water. Find out what our Mobile Medical Services team is doing to reduce water wastage, and how small changes in our daily routines can contribute to a more sustainable future in Saving The Earth, One Drop of Water at a time.

We also meet Valerie, our intern, who shares what it has been like taking her first steps into healthcare and getting to know life at SATA CommHealth in First Steps into Healthcare: An Intern’s Journey at SATA CommHealth.
A special focus of this issue is “Celebrating Our Nurses”, where we take a closer look at the dedication, compassion and commitment our nurses bring to their work every day. We also recognise the achievements of our nursing colleagues through the MOH Nurses Merit Award 2026, celebrating their contributions to our patients and the wider community.

Beyond our medical centres, discover how your support can help us bring healthcare closer to home for more beneficiaries, and learn how you can play a part in extending care to those who need it.

e-Newsletter: July 2026

A new issue of In The Know is here, and we are excited to bring you another collection of stories, updates and highlights from across our SATA CommHealth community!

In this July issue of In The Know, we want to celebrate the many ways care goes beyond our medical centres — from expanding healthcare access for underserved communities to bringing comfort and support directly into the homes of our patients. Each story is a reminder that healthcare is not just about services we provide, but the lives we touch and the relationships we build along the way.

We begin with celebrating the Official Opening of SATA CommHealth’s Dental Centre, our first dedicated dental facility providing accessible and affordable dental care for migrant workers. This marks an important step forward in our commitment to ensuring that every member of our community has the opportunity to receive timely and reliable dental care, regardless of their circumstances.

In “When Care Comes Home”, we share the meaningful work of our homecare nurses who bring healthcare, comfort and companionship directly to patients in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. Through their dedication and compassion, they remind us that quality care is built not only on medical expertise, but also on empathy and human connection.

As Singapore continues to experience warmer weather, we share timely health reminders in “It’s Getting Hot in Here!” — offering practical tips to help everyone stay safe, hydrated and well during the heat. As we continue our journey of caring for the community, we also turn our attention to our seniors, who remain among those most vulnerable to serious respiratory infections. Through our initiative, we hope to rally support and encourage everyone to play a part to Shield Our Seniors and ensuring they continue to receive the care and protection they deserve.

And of course, don’t forget to catch up on the latest happenings through SATA Social Buzz, where we celebrate the initiatives, achievements and stories that bring our organisation to life.

This month, we celebrate the people, purpose and progress shaping the future of community healthcare at SATA CommHealth. From the unveiling of our new Geylang East Medical Centre to inspiring stories of service and care on the ground, this issue highlights how compassion, innovation and community continue to drive our mission forward.

We begin with an exclusive first look at our new Geylang East Medical Centre, a refreshed space designed to bring accessible and quality healthcare even closer to the community. This milestone represents more than just a new facility — it reflects our continued efforts to meet evolving healthcare needs while creating a more welcoming and patient-centric experience.

This issue also shines a spotlight on the inspiring journey of Dr Deanna Koh, whose dedication to serving the migrant community reminds us of the profound difference healthcare professionals can make beyond the clinic walls. Her story is one of compassion, resilience and answering the call to serve where it matters most.

As preventive healthcare becomes increasingly important, we also explore a question many often ask but may not fully understand — what health screening tests do you really need? Through practical insights and guidance, we hope to empower readers to take proactive steps towards better health and well-being, while also seeking support to provide essential vaccinations to “Shield Our Seniors” and protect them from preventable diseases.

Beyond clinical care, we also step into moments of genuine connection and camaraderie, including a heartwarming evening of shanghai opera, joy and celebration with 150 seniors and partners, reflecting the spirit of community that continues to bring purpose to our work.

As always, we round off the issue with the latest highlights from our SATA social channels, capturing the vibrant stories, milestones and moments shared across our community.

For the July issue of In The Know, we celebrate the many ways we are growing — as a healthcare provider, as a community partner, and as stewards of a healthier future.

In our commitment to clinical excellence, we reflect on the recent Continuing Medical Education (CME) Talk where Dr Lai Hwee Yee brought attention to the crucial topic of Infection Prevention and Control. We also celebrated our first-ever Tree Planting Day, a joyful gathering that brought together stakeholders and community members in support of our sustainability journey. Led by Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Industry and partners from NParks, the event reminds us that caring for the environment is also a form of caring for health.

In our efforts to continually improve service delivery, we would like to invite all to share your valuable feedback through the Customer Communication Survey and don’t miss out on our new Medication Travel Kit – designed for convenience wherever you go. e-Newsletter: August 2023

It is said that giving is better than receiving, as the act of giving is in itself a reward. In this edition of our bi-monthly newsletter, we showcase the heart of giving in more ways than one from our frontline medical staff to those in dire need of care. From wound dressing a patient in his home, to catching a potentially serious issue before it manifests, these are the stories of our #healthcareheroes whom we celebrate and recognise.
