Tetanus is a serious bacterial disease that affects your nervous system, leading to painful muscle contractions, particularly of your jaw and neck muscles. Tetanus can interfere with your ability to breathe and can threaten your life. 

Who should have Tetanus vaccination?

Tetanus vaccine before you travel, especially if you are going to an area where it may be difficult to access health care service.

It can be given to adolescents and adults as a booster shot every 10 years, or after an exposure to tetanus under some circumstances.


  • One (1) dose given intramuscularly
  • Booster dose every 10 years
